DownsSteam Steam Train Rides

Step aboard and travel back in time with DownsSteam’s heritage steam train rides! Departing from Toowoomba Station, enjoy a nostalgic journey to DownsSteam’s beautiful flower gardens at Drayton Station, where historic steam locomotives, restored carriages and gorgeous springtime blooms create a truly special atmosphere.

Run entirely by passionate volunteers, DownsSteam is a wonderful example of community spirit in action and a reminder that some of the best Carnival experiences are the ones that connect us with history and with each other.

A café and souvenir shop are on site at Drayton Station, serving fresh and toasted sandwiches, cakes, scones, pies, sausage rolls, hot chips, tea, coffee and cold drinks — everything you need for a relaxed and satisfying day out.

All proceeds support the gardens and the ongoing operation of heritage rail on the Darling Downs. Guests are advised to arrive at Toowoomba Station 30–45 minutes before departure to allow time for parking.
