Ever wondered what goes into creating Toowoomba’s jaw-dropping floral displays? Behind the Blooms pulls back the petals and takes you inside the magic. This intimate, hour-long guided tour of Queens Park Botanic Gardens gives you an exclusive morning look at the craftsmanship, expertise and hard work that transforms the gardens into one of Australia’s most spectacular spring showcases.

Walk alongside our knowledgeable garden guides as they share the stories behind the blooms — from the careful selection of seasonal varieties to the artistry of large-scale floral display. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast or simply a lover of beautiful spaces, this is your chance to see Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers from the inside out.

Twilight Tours will be running 8am – 9am every Mon – Fri during Carnival:
Mon 22 – Fri 25 Sept
Mon 29 Sept – Fri 2 Oct

Check in for your tour at the Queens Park Info Hub (near the Ferris Wheel)

Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and perhaps a hat for the morning sun.

Tickets cost $15 per person, and bookings are essential!

Companion Card holders can purchase a ticket and present it with your Companion Card to the tour guide so you companion can enjoy complimentary entry.

Your guides are the dedicated Toowoomba Regional Council gardeners who nurture Queens Park Botanic Gardens daily, bringing insider knowledge and years of hands-on experience to share the park’s best-kept secrets.

Queens Park is wheelchair accessible, with hard surface pathways through, and sections of grassy or uneven surfaces. Accessible toilets are available.

All tickets are non-refundable.

Cancellation (by TCOF)
In the event of cancellation by Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (such as extreme weather event), refunds will be processed via the ticketing provider.

Exchanges
Guests can exchange their tickets for alternate tour dates up to 7 days prior to departure via their Ticketbooth online account. Due to tour staffing, exchanges cannot be facilitated within 7 days of departure. Guests may choose to exchange their Behind the Blooms tickets to attend a Twilight Tour in Laurel Bank Park.

Resale
Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (TCOF) and Ticketbooth recommend the use of Tixel, a reputable online ticket resale platform. To list unwanted tickets for sale, visit tixel.com.au. TCOF does not recommend the use of online marketplaces to sell unwanted tickets.
In the event that you sell or gift your ticket to another without using the resale facility, please be sure you/they notify info@tcof.com.au to inform tour staff of the ticketholders name.

Cancellation (by attendee)
In the event that you are unable to attend due to illness or unexpected circumstances, no refund will be issued. TCOF encourage the use of resale or exchange facilities. Please note that this is an all-weather event.

Behind the Blooms is an intimate, one‑hour guided walking tour of Queens Park Botanic Gardens, hosted by Toowoomba Regional Council gardeners. Guests enjoy an exclusive morning look at how Carnival’s spectacular floral displays are planned, planted and maintained, with stories and insights you won’t get from a standard garden visit.

When do the tours run?

Behind the Blooms tours run Monday to Friday during Carnival, starting Friday 18 September. Each tour runs from 8am - 9am.

Where do I meet for the tour?

Please check in at the Queens Park Botanic Gardens Info Hub (near the Ferris Wheel) by 8am sharp. Your tour guide will meet the group here before the tour begins.

How much do tickets cost?

Tickets are $15 per person and bookings are essential as tour numbers are limited.

Do you accept Companion Cards for this event?

What will I see on the tour?

You’ll gain a behind‑the‑scenes look at the craftsmanship and expertise behind Carnival’s floral displays — from plant selection and seasonal planning to the artistry of large‑scale installations. The focus is on how the gardens are created and maintained rather than simply viewing them.

How long is the tour?

Each tour runs for one hour (8am - 9am).

Is this the same as your Twilight Tours?

No. Behind the Blooms takes place in Queens Park Botanic Gardens and runs in the morning, offering a behind‑the‑scenes look at how Carnival’s floral displays are designed, planted and maintained. Twilight Tours are held in Laurel Bank Park in the evening, focusing on the atmosphere of the gardens after dark, plant collections and the twilight experience.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, bookings are essential. Tour capacity is limited to keep the experience personal and informative.

What should I wear or bring?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, weather‑appropriate clothing and sun protection. The tour takes place outdoors across paved, grassed and uneven surfaces.

Is the tour accessible?

What makes this different from visiting the park at another time?

This isn't just a walk in the park – it's an illuminating experience! The park atmosphere transforms in the evening hours, and you’ll discover a whole new side to the lovely Laurel Bank Park. Plus, your tour guide will host your journey throughout the park with plenty of information and insights.

What happens if it rains?

The tour goes ahead rain, hail or shine. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring an umbrella or raincoat if rain is forecast.

Can children attend?

The tour is suitable for all ages, though children must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my dog?

To help our gardeners keep the focus on sharing their knowledge and stories during the tour, dogs aren’t permitted on Behind the Blooms tours. Registered assistance animals are welcome.

Does my ticket include anything else?

Your ticket includes a one‑hour hosted tour of Queens Park Botanic Gardens. Food and refreshments are not included.
