Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

This year, Floral Friday is back to kick off Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in the most spectacular way possible — and we want you to be part of it!

Floral Friday is more than just a celebration of flowers; it’s a chance to show off our region’s love for this iconic event with an enthusiastic “welcome to spring!”

On Friday 18 September, we want the Toowoomba region to burst into bloom — a living, breathing canvas of colour, community pride and unbridled carnival spirit, with colourful blooms absolutely everywhere!

We’re bloomin’ excited to welcome Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre as our Floral Friday Community Activation Partner for 2026!

GET INVOLVED!

Floral Friday is a fun, simple way for your school community to get involved in a region-wide celebration of creativity, sustainability and community spirit, all on the last day of term.

Here are some exciting ways schools can get involved:

Decorate your school or centre with florals
Brighten fences, entryways, hallways and buildings with floral decorations to create a festive street presence.

Hold a Floral Friday free dress day
Organise a floral ‘free dress’ day where students and staff wear floral outfits or bright colours. For those with capacity, join us for a World Record attempt at Queens Park for the largest gathering of people dressed as flowers.

Pair Floral Friday with learning
Link activities with classroom learning, exploring creativity, design, sustainability, and community connection.

Want to get involved? Make sure you register your school!

We’re calling on businesses to be part of our region-wide celebration of creativity and colour, and  transform their shopfronts and workplaces into a vibrant springtime showcase. Whether you go big or keep it simple, your participation will help create a memorable experience for the community and visitors alike.

Register below to let us know you’re participating, and we’ll keep you in the loop with any Floral Friday updates!

IT IS TIME TO MAKE HISTORY!

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT!

Toowoomba, it’s time to make history!

We’re calling on the entire community to come together this Floral Friday, 18 September, for an ambitious attempt to create the “Largest Gathering of People Dressed as a Toowoomba violet”.

The colourful community challenge will take place at Queens Park from 12pm, with organisers aiming to bring together more than 938 people dressed as Toowoomba violets and hopefully put the Garden City into the record books.

Local media outlets, Triple M Toowoomba and The Toowoomba Chronicle will help rally the region, joining us to spread the word and encourage community involvement. Together, they’ll help us issue one very important challenge to Toowoomba: can we get more than 938 people into Queens Park and make history?

How can you take part?

Come dressed how ever you like for this event – it’s being held on Floral Friday, so bright colours and floral prints are encouraged!

For our World Record attempt we’ll be giving everyone their own Toowoomba violet crown on arrival. We’ll snap a pic and hopefully make history. It’s that simple!

Want to decorate your own flower crown? We have a downloadable version perfect for budding artists to colour in!
