After stealing hearts, filling Queens Park with wagging tails and drawing thousands of spectators in 2025, the much-loved Paw Parade is officially returning to Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers for a second year and it’s shaping up to be even bigger, fluffier and more paw-some than before.
Taking place on Sunday 4 October from 8.30am to 12pm on the Lindsay Street Oval in Queens Park, Paw Parade, will once again transform the final weekend of Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers into a celebration of four-legged fashionistas, playful pups and proud pet parents, with hundreds of dogs expected to strut their stuff in front of cheering crowds.
Presented with support from Greyhound Australia, and following an overwhelmingly positive community response in 2025, organisers say the return of Paw Parade was a no brainer.
Toowoomba Regional Council Tourism portfolio spokesperson Councillor James O’Shea said the event had quickly become one of Carnival’s most joyful and talked about experiences.
“Last year’s Paw Parade exceeded all expectations, transforming Queens Park into a vibrant celebration of community and canine charm. Thousands gathered as dogs in delightful costumes stole the show, with families laughing and enjoying a joyful, shared experience.”
“Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is all about creating memorable experiences, and Paw Parade captures that perfectly. It’s fun, inclusive, family friendly and brings so much energy to the city,” he said.
Registrations are now open for dogs wanting to take part in the parade, with owners able to enter their furry companions into two novelty categories.
Prize categories include:
● Best flower-inspired outfit
● Pet and owner lookalike
● Senior sweetheart (dogs over nine years)
● Little paws (kids 12 and under with their doggie partner).
Each registration costs $15 per dog, per category.
General admission to watch the Paw Parade is completely free, with spectators encouraged to fill the park and soak up one of the Carnival’s most entertaining mornings.
With registrations expected to fill quickly following last year’s success, dog owners are encouraged to secure their place early before registrations close on 20 September or sell out.
The Paw Parade forms part of the 2026 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers program, running from 18 September to 5 October.
