Toowoomba is set to burst into colour once again as the Grand Central Floral Parade returns on Saturday 19 September 2026, transforming the city centre into a moving celebration of flowers, creativity and community spirit.
A beloved centrepiece of Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the parade will see tens of thousands line the CBD streets as dazzling floral floats, street performers, carnival characters and roving entertainers bring the city to life in a vibrant procession from Herries Street through to Queens Park.
This year, Grand Central Floral Parade embraces ‘Spring Adventures’ as the theme, celebrating imagination, exploration and the joy of discovering something new around every corner. From whimsical floral creations to larger-than-life performances and community-led displays.
Toowoomba Regional Council Tourism portfolio spokesperson, Councillor James O’Shea said the parade continues to be one of the most anticipated days on the region’s calendar, with its ability to unite the community in a shared moment of colour and celebration.
“Grand Central Floral Parade is Toowoomba at its absolute best! Streets filled with colour, music in the air and families lining the parade route to experience something truly special together.”
“The 2026 theme, Spring Adventures, captures exactly what this event is about, discovery, creativity and the excitement of seeing our city transformed into a living celebration of spring,” he said.
For three decades, Grand Central has played a pivotal role in supporting the parade’s growth into one of Australia’s most recognisable regional events, helping shape generations of spring celebrations in Toowoomba.
Grand Central Centre Manager, Tracey Ford said the parade continues to hold a special place in the heart of the community. “Being right in the heart of the CBD, we see first-hand how the parade transforms the region into a space for celebration. From the excitement along the route to the food, entertainment and activity that continues afterwards, it’s a day that brings people together and invites them to stay and enjoy everything the city has to offer.”
“We are so proud to have been part of this journey for 30 years, supporting an event that brings so much joy to families across the region,” she said.
The 2026 parade will once again feature spectacular floral floats, community groups, performers, schools and entertainers, creating a high energy street experience that attracts visitors from across Australia.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, bring sun protection, water and seating if required, and allow additional travel time due to CBD road closures.
Cr O’Shea said the enduring popularity of the parade lies in its ability to bring people together in a uniquely Toowoomba way. “There’s nothing else quite like it. The streets are packed, the atmosphere is electric and you can feel the pride people have in their city.”
“It’s free and accessible, with a dedicated viewing zone designed to support a range of access needs, along with a descriptive commentary point at Godsall Street Oval and it’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after the last float has passed,” he said.
The Grand Central Floral Parade is a highlight of Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, which runs from 18 September to 5 October 2026.
