EVent Description

Step into the natural beauty of Toowoomba bushland and join a guided walk led by friendly volunteers from Friends of the Escarpment Parks. Along the way, you’ll discover the rich variety of local plant species and learn about the vital role they play in supporting the diverse birds, animals and insects that call this unique ecosystem home.

The event has three distinct highlights, all centred around a love of local plants. Guided walks through Duggan Park bring the bush to life with knowledgeable volunteers pointing out native species, explaining their role in the local ecosystem and sharing what’s being done to combat the invasive weeds threatening their survival. For younger visitors there is bush kindy (suitable for littlies aged 3 months – 5 years) and bush school (for kids 6 – 12 years old). Then there are not one but three plant stalls to browse — a native plant stall stocked by the Crows Nest Community Nursery, a koala tree stall specialising in the eucalypts that koalas depend on as a food source, and a plant stall run by Peacehaven Native Nursery specialising in difficult to find native plants. Whether you’re looking to attract more wildlife to your garden or simply want to plant something with a purpose, you’ll find something special here.

Grab morning tea from the Bush Cafe, with a selection of cakes, biscuits, savoury muffins, gluten-free and lactose-free options available for purchase, alongside tea and coffee — the perfect way to recharge between walks and plant stall browsing.

Plenty of street and off-street parking is available at Duggan Park, including disability parking.

It won’t cost you a single petal — this event is free! Register online or at the event for guided walks at https://fep.org.au/carnival-in-the-bush/.
