Welcome to the most colourful celebration in Queensland! Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers isn’t just an event, it’s a living, breathing celebration of spring – we’re talking flowers, food and fun!
The seeds were sown in 1949, with the idea to hold a Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers to boost community spirit and generate economic activity following the hardships of the war. In 1950, Carnival sprouted, with an estimated crowd of 50,000 people watching a street procession led by a bullock team, stretching three miles in length.
From early beginnings, we’ve blossomed into an annual event, with bunches of guests visiting us to play in the petals over four floral-filled weekends. Our floral parade attracts up to 75,000 people these days – now that’s flower power!
Our reason for being is simple: to cultivate economic goodness in spring for the Toowoomba Region, by celebrating our natural beauty, colourful places, and blooming bespoke experiences.
We’re proudly owned and operated by Toowoomba Regional Council, but our roots spread wide! The Carnival Crew is a colourful bunch working together each year, including Council staff (a petal-to-the-metal events team and blooming amazing horticulturalists and gardeners), and a team of unbe-leaf-able volunteers who help us throughout the entire event delivery period.
