Volunteering with the Carnival is a blooming great way to get involved in your community, meet new people, experience Carnival like never before and show the world how friendly, fun and beautiful our region is.
We have a variety of roles and times so you can choose what suits you best. Shifts usually range from two to four hours in length and you will be working with a team, so expect to have some fun!
Visitor Assistance
Share your passion for plants and local gardening knowledge as a tour guide for scheduled visitor groups. You will be the friendly face welcoming visitors to our region, imparting your knowledge and love for our city as you travel around Toowoomba, visiting several spectacular gardens. If you apply for this role, your application and details will be forwarded to the tour packaging specialist for further discussion, mentoring and guidance. Comprehensive information is provided to guides, including history of Toowoomba, background of gardens visited during tour, tour itinerary and map. Guides will be provided with an itinerary and are not required to navigate – the coach company will provide a driver.

Shifts are approximately 2.5 hours in duration, between 9am and 5pm.
This role would suit:
Someone with great public speaking skills and local knowledge. Must love Toowoomba, be approachable, friendly and skilled in talking to large groups of people.
Are you keen to share your love of Toowoomba and help welcome visitors to our region? Become an information guru stationed in our Info Hubs at Queens Park Botanic Garden and Laurel Bank Park to provide visitors with brochures, maps and local knowledge. This year we will also have an Info Hub at the City Library along with all the Memorabilia so you can go back memory lane as you enjoy the display too! You will become a vital team member working with Toowoomba Regional Council staff to assist visitors and locals alike discover all there is to Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, as well as selling merchandise so they can take a little piece of Carnival home!

Festival of Food and Wine
*All Festival of Food & Wine volunteers receive a Festival day pass for the day you volunteer.
Enjoy a day out at our bloomin’ lovely Flower Crown tent, located in the Festival of Food & Wine. Your role will be assisting Festival-goers to make their very own fresh flower headband/crown.

EFTPOS experts apply here – this role is based in our merchandise hub at the Festival of Food & Wine. You’ll be selling Carnival merchandise like hats, cups and LED flower crowns, as well as answering queries from Festival-goers. All sales will be processed via EFTPOS – no cash handling is required.

Grand Central Floral Parade
Have fun handing out items to spectators arriving to watch the iconic Grand Central Floral Parade or selling them some of our beautiful merchandise such as umbrellas, caps or water! You and a volunteer ‘buddy’ will hand out promotional items to the crowd or will offer them TCOF merchandise so they can take a little piece of Carnival home! Be a friendly and welcoming representative of our city and answer any queries.

This role would suit:
Someone active who likes getting out and about. Must be friendly and approachable, enjoys walking and is comfortable in large crowds and confident speaking to people.
Help set up chairs for the designated seating areas and be the friendly face who welcomes visitors to the iconic Grand Central Floral Parade. After setting out chairs you will meet and greet passengers of booked coach tours and guide them to their designated seating area, before assisting with any general queries to ensure visitors and locals enjoy the spectacular Parade! After the Parade is finished, lend a hand stacking chairs.

This role would suit:
Someone fit and able to undertake manual tasks, friendly, welcoming and tourism-minded. Must be organised and good at problem-solving for any seating issues that arise.
Be the friendly face who welcomes visitors to our special designated areas for people with accessibility needs or sensory requirements. Set up along the Parade route, you and a volunteer ‘buddy’’ will be in charge of guarding and controlling access to these areas so they can be enjoyed by those who really need them. First in, best dressed.

Someone with a strong character but also a big compassionate heart who is good at problem-solving for any seating issues that arise and help those in these special areas to have a great time.
Ferris Wheel
*All Ferris Wheel volunteers can have a free ride on the day you volunteer.
Welcome patrons of all ages who are excited to ride the Ferris Wheel to get a bird’s eye view of our spectacular floral displays! You will process ticket sales via EFTPOS using our simple pre-programmed system – no cash handling required. Your role will be based at the Ferris Wheel located in the upper part of Queens Park Botanic Garden. You will be working with Toowoomba Regional Council staff to assist visitors and locals alike.

Thrive on Arts
Four days packed with lots of family friendly activities organised by the Empire Theatre will give you the opportunity to have some fun and sprinkle plenty of patience and smiles at our Fairy Bread station. This role involves lots of little humans and we need your stamina and help to ensure they have a great time!

Someone friendly and fit (to keep up with the little humans) who loves kids! Must be approachable, confident to run kids’ activities independently and happy to assist children as needed.
Symphony Under the Stars
*All Symphony Under the Stars volunteers can stay and enjoy a meal and the concert
The friendly face of this unique experience brought specially for our 75th Anniversary, your role is to welcome and assist patrons entering the 'Symphony Under the Stars with Queensland Symphony Orchestra' concert by scanning their pre-purchased tickets.

This role would suit:
Someone friendly and welcoming with attention to detail. Must be comfortable dealing with large crowds of people and confident working in a fast-paced environment using scanners to check tickets.
As attendees arrive to the park for the concert, be the friendly face for our lawn guests, helping them find their way to the amenities and different areas to enjoy the Symphony Under the Stars.

This role would suit:
Someone with a good sense of directions who loves talking and guiding people.
After a magical night of Symphony under the stars, it is time to pack up and let the area ready for another event. Your role will be assisting with the bumping out process by moving equipment, unwrapping fences and packing up various items (this may involve a bit of heavy lifting) all while having a fun morning in the park.
