Additional Information

Get Your School Involved!+

We’re calling on residents, businesses and schools to help us with a full botanical takeover of the Region to mark the start of Carnival! By participating, students will gain hands-on experience in sustainability and gardening, nurturing a lifelong appreciation and passion for the environment and our local community.

Here are some exciting ways schools can join Floral Friday:

Decorate your school boundary with sustainable decorations
We’re encouraging crafty kids to pull items out of the TRC red lid bins to create beautiful and imaginative decorations for your school boundary.

Free dress Floral Friday
Schools can organise a free dress Floral Friday, where students and staff dress in florals or bright colours.

Create a lesson with a Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers focus
To further inspire creativity, the Grand Central Floral Parade Creative Advisors ‘Shiny Happy Art’ will be offering online tutorials on how to make creative floral arrangements.

Get your wider community involved
Run a flower making workshop at your school for parents and siblings to attend.

We’re blooming excited to offer an opportunity for schools to register for a $50 voucher to assist in purchasing supplies that cannot be rescued from the red lid bin for Floral Friday. This support aims to ensure that all schools can participate fully and create beautiful, sustainable decorations.

Register for Flower Making Workshops+

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, our flower making workshops are the perfect way to get ready for Floral Friday! We’ll be crafting flowers from recycled materials, including fence wrap, to promote sustainability. Learn new techniques, share ideas, and create an oversized, upcycled bloom to take home. These flowers are a minimum 50cm diameter and perfect to display on your front door, fence or other outdoor fixture during Carnival.

The registration fee is $15 per flower (up to two participants per flower). Children are welcome to attend and create a flower with a supervising adult (no independent work for children under 12). This project involves the use of hot glue guns.
