EVent Description

Join us for an extraordinary addition to the Friends of Peacehaven Botanic Park’s popular Tavern Talks series featuring Barbara McKenzie, author of a recent book chronicling the park’s remarkable history.

Discover how Peacehaven emerged from humble beginnings as a dairy farm established in the 1870s by German immigrants Ludwig and Albertine Kuhl.

Barbara’s illustrated presentation reveals how three generations of the Kuhl family cultivated this land until 2004, when the late Stan Kuhl’s extraordinary generosity transformed the community with his gift of nearly one-third of the original farm for public enjoyment. As we celebrate 20 years since the first seedlings of today’s breathtaking landscape were planted, you’ll gain a new appreciation for the vision, dedication and community spirit that shaped this botanical paradise. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the fascinating human story behind the paths you walk and the gardens you admire!
