Create a Buzz: theme announced for this year’s Grand Central Floral Parade

15 March 2023

Calling all Busy Bees – it’s time to extend those wings because the theme for this year’s Grand Central Floral Parade at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has just been announced – it’s CREATE A BUZZ!

Given it’s the parade that stops the city, creating a buzz comes naturally to the stunning lineup of floats, marching bands, dance groups and supporters who each year spend weeks decorating floats and making costumes.

PARADE APPLICATIONS OPEN TODAY – Wednesday 15 March at tcof.com.au, and close on Thursday 20 April 2023.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is excited to welcome back Parade Creative Advisors Anna Battle and Mary-Kate Thomson, two local artists and business owners who love working with the community and helping organisations participate in the iconic event.

Entry Categories include:

  • Corporate float – self-propelled vehicle/trailers and walkers
  • Community float – self-propelled vehicle/trailer and walkers
  • Visiting float – self-propelled vehicle/trailer and walkers
  • Marching bands and walking groups
  • Multicultural celebration – self-propelled vehicle/trailers and walking groups
  • Creative visual entry – puppetry/ marionette/ costume character or visual delight bicycles

This year will be the 74th anniversary of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. The event will be celebrated across all 30 days of September, headlined by 190,000 spectacular blooms, flourishing under the hands of an army of Council gardeners. The 2023 program will be unveiled on Thursday 27 April 2023.
